over 40 years in the making
Nutters started with one neighbourhood store in Medicine Hat, Alberta, opened by Doc Cranston in 1982. Back then, we sold bulk ingredients to local families. Today, we've grown to 27+ neighbourhood stores across Western Canada, offering a just-right selection of quality natural wellness products.
A lot has changed over the years, but despite our growth, we've kept our small-town feel. We continue to listen, adapt and curate our selection as our customers' needs change — bringing great products closer to home, with knowledgeable people who know their stuff.

Forty years in, we've learned that the most important thing in our stores isn't actually on our shelves - it's the person standing in front of them. Every Nutters has a vitamin manager whose job it is to know the products and know how to translate the info to our customers like a person, not a pamphlet.
They stay current on what's new and how it works, but the real expertise comes from something you don’t get off a spec sheet: hearing about results straight from you — and the many neighbours who've come back in to share what worked. What rescued your afternoon slump? What your kid's stomach did or didn't tolerate. What you tried for six months before finding the thing that worked. That's a vital piece of the feedback loop that actually shapes what we recommend and what we choose to carry.
